Question 1

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COMPARE WINDOWS?

Accepted Answer

Discover the most trustworthy method to compare windows by looking for the NFRC* rating on each window you’re considering. As an independent certification, NFRC labels evaluate the full spectrum of window performance based on U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). The lower these ratings, the superior the window’s performance. U-Factor and SHGC’s priorities fluctuate depending upon your climate, hence, it’s essential to choose the most advantageous NFRC ratings suitable to your local weather conditions in places like Boise, Meridian, Cascade, McCall, and Donnelly.

Question 2

What is an Energy Star window?

Accepted Answer

The Window Source of Western Idaho takes pride in offering Energy Star approved windows, a certification program governed by the Federal Government, ensuring you get energy-efficient windows tailored to your specific climate. For a window to qualify, it must meet a certain minimum performance standard based on NFRC whole window performance ratings set for four distinct climate zones: Northern (.30 U-Factor or less), North Central (.32 or less), South Central (.35 or less), and Southern (.60 or less).

Question 3

Does The Window Source have Energy Star windows and doors?

Accepted Answer

Indeed, every window or patio door purchased with a LowE glass upgrade will meet the Energy Star guidelines for the climatic zone where it is purchased. This assurance is always provided in writing on your contract specifications. This ensures you always order and receive the finest LowE glass that is perfectly suited for your specific climate zone, serving areas from Valley County all the way to Boise.

Question 4

Are tax credits available for windows and doors?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely, there is an opportunity for you to qualify for a 30% federal tax credit up to $600 for window replacements that align with Energy Star guidelines. This tax credit is part of the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit which has been extended through 2032, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. This credit applies to both the purchase and installation costs of qualified energy-efficient windows and doors.

Question 6

Is the installation as important as the window?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely, a window requires accurate measurements to ensure a proper fit within the opening, and to provide sufficient tolerance for perfect plumb and square alignment. If the new window isn’t correctly installed in terms of plumb and square, it will not seal and function optimally, regardless of the high quality of the new window itself. The Window Source of Western Idaho specializes in these precision tasks.
